Element Marking

Overview

A need has been identified to allow for elements to be marked by guides/admin users. To facilitate this we have introduced the concept of a markable Element.

Markable Elements

A markable element is an element that has been indicated as being markable. This is done by indicating that the element is markable and providing the total marks available for the element.

When this is done the element will behave differently to the user completing it.

The auto complete functionality will be disabled and the user will be required to submit the element for marking.

On submitting/completing the element a workflow is performed whereby:

  • Element Required Fields are checked and submission rejected if not complete
  • If the required fields have been completed then a snapshot of the element is taken and stored as a PDF document
  • The element is then available for marking, an appropriate user will then be able to view the completed element PDF, provide feedback and award a mark.
  • The user that submitted the element will be able to view the feedback and mark awarded.

Element Feedback for the user

The user can access detailed feedback by navigating to the element and clicking on the feedback tab. We have also provided a new user interface that will show the user all the feedback items that they are party to. This interface only shows marks and high level details but contains links through to the element feedback for more detail.

Element Marking Process for the marker

A new admin panel has been added, from there the marker can view all elements submitted for marking. The marker can then view the element PDF and provide feedback and award a mark.
